As of January 15, 2020, Russia’s most important airline, Aeroflot, moved its international flights in Moscow to terminal C1 of Sheremetyevo International Airport.
As part of an expansion process, the main Moscow airport receives expansion works, including the brand new C1 terminal and a third runway.
The new terminal will have the capacity to serve about 20 million passengers annually and the Aeroflot company has already moved to it. As of January 15, all international flights began operating from that terminal located in the northern sector of the airport, and adjacent to terminal B, where the airline currently operates domestic flights.
Meanwhile, Sheremetyevo inaugurated its third runway last September and the construction of two more terminals is expected: the C2 that would be ready by 2021 and the G that will begin construction in 2024.
All these expansion works intend that by 2026, Sheremetyevo Airport enters the list of the 10 largest airports in the world, reaching a capacity to serve 100 million passengers per year.
